Teacher Institute
The 2008 Invest Ed™ Teacher Institute is a four day professional development program sponsored by the Oklahoma
Securities Commission and the University of Oklahoma Outreach.
Subject matter experts teach the basics of saving and investing and related topics in addition to fraud
awareness and prevention. Teachers receive access to optional investment education curriculum.
Teachers are introduced to the Invest Ed™ Students Tracking and Researching the Stock Market
(STARS) investment education program for high school students. The Teacher
Institute qualifies teachers to implement the STARS program in their courses or in organizations they sponsor. The
STARS program supplements existing curriculum. Invest Ed™ STARS aligns with PASS standards and meets several
objectives required by HB 1476.
Participation at each of the two Teacher Institutes is limited to 20 teachers. Oklahoma high school
teachers, grades 9-12, who have not attended a previous Teacher Institute or Saturday workshop may register.
The Teacher Institutes are free; materials, accommodations, and meals are provided by Invest Ed™.
Teachers receive an attendance stipend and CEU credits.
